Individual Therapy

Therapy can help lessen the impact of painful events, thoughts or feelings and enable you to move towards a rich and meaningful life.

Time and time again research demonstrates that therapy is an effective and useful treatment. At Clarity, we believe that therapy is more than a set of ‘cookie cutter’ techniques. Each of the therapists at Clarity has extensive training in psychological science, yet understands its only useful within a collaborative and authentic therapeutic relationship. There are many reasons to consider going to therapy including wanting to break patterns that keep repeating themselves, addressing specific symptoms, wanting to better understand the inner workings of your mind or getting support from an ‘outside’ person, etc. We tailor our approach to your specific needs.

Our therapists recognize each individual as unique and complex and spend the time necessary to understand your personal history, cultural influences, and the ongoing experience of your inner world. Our priority is providing only the highest quality of care to our clients within the context of a trusting and nonjudgmental environment. Our aim is to meet you exactly where you are on your path towards growth. Ultimately, we all can find healing and freedom.

How can therapy help?

Each therapy experience is unique, and your therapist will take the time to really understand your needs and goals. There is a common misconception that therapy is just 'venting' or talking to someone who passively listens, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Some examples of how therapy can help are:

  • Clarify your values based on what's truly meaningful to you, and use them to inspire and motivate you towards change.

  • Learn to effectively deal with painful thoughts and feelings in order to lessen the impact they have on your life.

  • Heal through a safe, authentic and healthy relationship with your therapist.

  • Learn to set boundaries with others and improve relationships in your life.

  • Identify the (often hidden) patterns of your life that ‘hook you’ and keep you stuck.

  • Process painful events from your past in order to gain freedom in the present.

  • Build coping skills and effectiveness, and learn how to problem solve in a way that actually works.

  • Build self-worth and self-compassion.

  • Build insight into who you are and the inner working if your mind.

  • Identify and let go of unhelpful beliefs.

  • Get support from an ‘outside’ person who is invested in your success as you define it.

  • Be able to engage fully with the present moment with openness and curiosity.

You may wish to address a specific issue such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or insomnia; or you may wish to better understand what is keeping you stuck in the same life patterns so you can move towards a more fulfilling life. Whether you are seeking insight, a new perspective on your life, facing your fears, learning how to cope with internal or external challenges or aren’t quite sure yet, therapy can help you enhance your life.
