About Dr. McInerney

Psychologist in Raleigh, NC

Elizabeth McInerney, PhD (she/her/hers) is a counseling psychologist offering individual and relationship therapy to adolescents and adults. She uses a multicultural and strengths-based approach that seeks to honor the diversity of all people. Dr. McInerney has expertise in working with those who are experiencing distress due to anxiety, burnout, depression, eating concerns, gender dysphoria, sleep disorders, stress, and trauma. She also has experience working with individuals who seek a deeper understanding of self particularly as it relates to gender and sexual identity.

"I believe that each person’s story is unique, shaped by their cultural background, and intricately linked to a complex world. Humans are social beings who seek connection from self and others. When relational bonds break, emotional distress can arise. In therapy, I will support your growth in self and relational awareness, as this insight will aid you in the embodiment of a values-based life.”

Dr. McInerney specializes in Couples Therapy, Mindfulness and Chronic Stress.

Dr. McInerney’s clinical work draws upon an integration of skills-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a foundation in Psychodynamic and Narrative Therapy. Specific to couples therapy, she uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and is pursuing certification as an EFT therapist. She has a strong passion for mindfulness and somatics, two elements infused throughout her clinical and personal life. She has recent experience working in college counseling centers, and has a keen interest in the Gen Z population.
